Pinery 2012

Last week we enjoyed our last big camping trip of the summer at Pinery provincial park on lake Huron near Grand Bend. (http://www.ontarioparks.com/english/pine.html) For 5 days we enjoyed hot sunny days and cool nights in the Riverside campground. The weather couldn't have been better. Joshua and Jonah loved riding their bikes up and down the road to visit their new found friends' Regan and Brianna. Joshua ditched the training wheels for good and became a speed demon that we struggled to keep up with.

We spend a couple of great afternoons on the beach, biked the entire length of the main trail with the boys in tow, enjoyed the ice cream and boat rentals on the Old Ausable Channel and just had an all round good time. Dinner on the patio at the Sunset Grill on our last night capped off a fun and relaxing family holiday.

First Trip to the ROM

Ultimate Dinosaurs

Today we took the boys for their first trip to the ROM to see the "Ultimate Dinosaurs" exhibit with their good friends Jack and Aaron and the Rogers'. The Go train and subway rides trumped the actual museum in terms of excitement factor for the boys but it was a great day out. We got an early start, leaving the house at about 7:30 to catch the 8:28 train from Oakville. The dinosaurs exhibit was a lot to take in, but very educational and the boys (Joshua especially) enjoyed collecting the stamps to become an official Junior Palaeontologist.

Afterwards we checked out the animals upstairs, the boys tried on ancient knight costumes and checked out the bat cave. We enjoyed lunch at East Sides, and then headed down to the waterfront to catch a few glimpses of the air show, then back on the Go train. Afterwards, we checked out Mike and Lin's recent reno's and then home for a relaxing evening. What a great start to a labour day long weekend.
